E-Waste Management

With technical and financial support from IICD, Close the Gap and CfSK, we ventured into a pilot project to manage the collection and dismantling of 1000 pieces of obsolete computers (e-waste). This was aimed at helping educational institutions get rid of the end of life computer

equipment from the schools hence saving them of the dangers of e-waste.

Since there was no concrete evidence of recycling facilities In Uganda, It was envisaged that components of e-waste that could not dismantled locally would be transported to CfSK a partner in Kenya who has the necessary facility to handle such components at the WEEE Centre. The activities are still ongoing and we welcome more partners who can contribute to what we are currently doing.
